Based in La Romana Dominican Republic TecniPro has been providing yacht services in the Dominican Republic for over 15 years.
Bill Owens, founder, arrived in the DR in 2001 with years of experience in the marine industry as a captain and yacht engineer. Bill began offering his services to the boaters. Over the years this developed into a full service marine engineering firm known as JD Marine a which has further evolved into TecniPro Solutions. Having served as chief engineer aboard yachts to 160 feet Bill understands the needs of a yacht in transit and can assist traveling yachts navigate through the sometimes complicated Dominican system. Bill held a USCG captains license for over 20 years and traveled extensively, holds an FCC licensed GROL with radar endorsement, GMDSS operator and maintainer.
He has attended NMEA advanced installer courses as well as NMEA 2000 certification courses and is familiar with all marine systems including propulsion and running gear. He has also attended numerous marine certification courses and has managed several refits and yard periods involving vessels up to 160 feet.
Jose Dorado (Pepe), co/owner, was trained in refrigeration and air conditioning in Canada while working for a Canadian company in Cuba. Pepe arrived from Cuba around the same time as Bill 15 years ago. While working on a large yacht visiting La Romana he escaped the Castro regime with the assistance of Bill and eventually brought his family to join him. Together with Bill they have gained a vast amount of experience in marine systems. Recently Pepe has attended Dometic factory training in the USA as well as several other marine courses.
All work aboard any vessel is performed to marine industry standards including NMEA and ABYC guidelines.
